After finishing a Master’s Degree in Voice Performance from Boston University I began to sing professionally, singing classical music and musical theater throughout the United States and Europe. I sang with organizations such as the Los Angeles Opera, Los Angeles Master Chorale and the Los Angeles Philharmonic, many regional opera, concert as well as acting with several Theater Companies. I began teaching Singing in1988 and felt my teaching to be insubstantial until I completed a 3 year certification to teach the Alexander Technique in Los Angeles. The Alexander Technique being the driving force that sustained me through a rigorous singing career.
The last 20 years have found me teaching at many Universities and Colleges such as, PCPA Conservatory Theater in Santa Maria, California, Chapman University in Orange, California and California State Universities Long Beach and Fullerton.
The video below shows me working with students at PCPA:
My experience is prolific and varied. I have had the pleasure of working with all kinds of people at every level of singing from all walks of life. I have students who currently sing professionally in Broadway tours, Opera Houses, Concert, Church as well as the Shower. I have students who were required against their will to take my class because they felt that they could not sing, who are singing professionally. The heart of my teaching is compassionate collaboration with a student in self exploration of their full potential with the least amount of effort.
I am a member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing), OMTA (Oregon Music Teachers Association), AmSAT (American Society for Alexander Technique) and ATI (Alexander Technique International).
